Modern Day Teachers

Who are the modern-day teachers? The modern day mothers, rabbis, brothers, sisters, elders, and fathers? Where are these teachers of old that helped to show us the way?
Everyone occasionally needs to be shown a path. I myself listen to the wise (perceived by me) of the world every day to:
Get ideas on how to better the way I live, and
(this is the main reason) so I don't lose my way.
If you think that every now and then you don't need the wisdom of others, then you are coo-coo.
We have lost a lot of the teachers of old who guided us through our lives. They have now been replaced with people who are famous enough to make their way onto our screens. Some of these so-called “teachers” are in it not for the fame or the money but because they truly care about the individual — the humanity inside all of us. These people are truly my heroes. They have molded my thoughts and brightened my horizons. I don't want to name them here, as I want everyone to find their own way. (My job is to poke the cognitive fire inside you, not to point the way.)
The onus now falls to the individual to point themselves in the correct direction. Beware, for those who flow and let the currents of everyday life guide them. It is easy to catch onto the wrong information stream and fall down a deep, dark algorithm that leads only to a darker form of enlightenment. Find joy, then, that it only takes a little bit of awareness to say, “NO, I will not listen to the douches of the world (Andrew Tate etc…),” and instead might listen to Alan Watts for two hours and completely blow my mind open. I won't tell you who to listen to, but I will say this: if you are confused about one of these self-labelled teachers, ask yourself, “Is this person kind?”
It is the kind people of the world I want to listen to. A kind person leaves their ego behind; they care less about bettering themselves and more about helping others. These selfless, kind people are my heroes. Find yours and you will succeed where others will not.
Until next time
Lachy
